Round 5: Feature Match 4 _ Chris Shumard vs. Robert Luken

Game1:
Robert Luken goes first and “busts out” with a Forgotten Cave. Chris replies with just an Island. Both players then slowly start developing. Chris casts end of turn Accumulated Knowledge, and Force Spikes one of Robert’s two Wall of Roots. Robert Luken then make an offensive move with a River Boa, which gets a Repulse from Chris. Chris then plays Ophidian. Robert attempts an Incinerate, which gets countered, and plays his boa again. Robert then plays another Boa on his next turn, which gets Incinerated. Robert starts attacking and gets a Yavimaya Elder into play as well. Mongrel comes down to play as well. Chris trys to Arc Lightning the Boa and a Wall, but Robert Regenerates. Robert’s Blastoderm gets Mana Leaked, but that’s not enough to stop the bleeding. Chris is put to six and burned with a Bolt and Incinerate.

Robert: no sides

Game 2:
Chris starts with a mulligan. No lands isn’t very tempting. His second hand he keeps, but as he’s leading, he’s down two cards. Robert’s third turn Elder meets a Force Spike. Chris’s fourth turn Ophidian is answered by a Blastoderm on Robert’s turn. Robert then Incinerates the Ophidian and walks in with the ’derm. Another Blastoderm joins the party. Chris gets a Mogg Fanatic, and Robert makes an Elder. Chris end of turn Lightning Bolts Robert. Robert marches in - the Mogg blocks the Elder and does a point to Robert. Chris then bolts and Incinerates Robert. At this point, Chris takes his turn and realizes he’s one point away from killing Robert with burn. He makes a futile attempt to burn Robert’s Elder, trying to buy a turn, but Robert has an Incinerate to finish Chris off.

Robert Luken defeats Chris Shumard 2-0
